Recommend some Jazz for a newbie

Guitarists—Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass. And while a lot of folks wouldn't consider this guy a jazz player, you should listen to Mose Allison's stuff from the late 50's and early 60's ... unless you already have.

Start with the piano. Bill Evans. Go with album "Portrait In Jazz". He went to Southeastern too so there is a Louisiana connection. Buried in Baton Rouge.

I would recommend to check it out, but I don't really think it's an intro kind of album personally. It's pretty far out there and from my experience very polarizing.

As for my recommendations, I tend to like jazz fusion.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones is among my favorites for all musical groups. I guess if you might want a specific song to just youtube, go for Big Country.

Snarky Puppy is a new band and they are great live if you ever get a chance to see them. Kinda Jazz/ Funk.
