Serious Tax Issue

Guess I have no options.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
I owe the IRS about 200k. That's not the big issue. Also, owe the Great State of Louisiana $65k with penalties and interest. The IRS is willing to negotiate. TGSOL is not. And, my drivers license has been revoked.
Awesome.
Went to LDR to try and reach an agreement. They said pay it
all. Well, no DL equals no income for me, so the state gets nothing.
WTF

What kind of business are you in? Drug running?

The best way to get square with the state of Louisiana is to try and buy some tax credits for the tax year(s) you outsanding liabilities. The credits usually cost about $.85 for $1.00 of tax credit. You will have to contact brokers to find credits for the year(s) at issue.
You can use the Louisiana revocation of your drivers license to your advantage. Since you have lost the ability to earn income you should qualify for an offer in compromise with the IRS on the basis of doubt as to the ability to pay the liability. Consult with a CPA experienced in OICs or a tax attorney to learn more about this option. You'd want to file this while your DL is revoked, and before you get square with Louisiana.

Pay your taxes, deadbeat. Every penny you don't pay comes out of the pockets of the rest of us.

So somewhere along the line you've made a cumulative total (over one or more years) north of a million dollars and didn't pay taxes on it.
Yeah, while I agree that Louisiana can be unusually aggressive in collecting taxes, I can see their point in not just taking your word that you have no money or assets with which to pay this off.
Call a tax lawyer first thing in the AM.

Do you regret living above your means in the last? You should read this board more often. Lots of successful people here who don't blow their load every time a new car gets released.

I'm guessing this thread isn't going how he had hoped. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Under certain circumstance, taxes can be discharged in bankruptcy (do you own Google search).
If you qualify -- or even if you can qualify in the future, this could give you some leverage in negotiating a deal with the state. Go to them, make them an offer that you can live with, and then tell them that if they don't accept your offer you'll be forced to file for bankruptcy and have the entire debt discharged.

I worked with a fellow who worked for the state of louisiana and he owed back taxes on a couple of years granted they were around 3-4K and not what you owe but the state of louisiana just garnished his check for so much each pay check until he could finish paying off in one lump sum or he would just have to keep paying monthly until the debt was paid.
He actually got it pain in one year by them taking so much each check and his return for the next year with a little loan from a bank got him square.
