Serious Tax Issue

Guess I have no options.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
I owe the IRS about 200k. That's not the big issue. Also, owe the Great State of Louisiana $65k with penalties and interest. The IRS is willing to negotiate. TGSOL is not. And, my drivers license has been revoked.
Awesome.
Went to LDR to try and reach an agreement. They said pay it
all. Well, no DL equals no income for me, so the state gets nothing.
WTF

What kind of business are you in? Drug running?

I owned a couple of very successful businesses and got divorced. Wife took me. I was not smart. But now, I am trying to rectify some things and I thought the IRS was my biggest problem. Alas, it's the State of Louisianan, in that I can't earn if I don't have a DL.

Apparently , the State thinks you will pay your tax debt if they revoke your DL.
Posted on 5/20/13 at 10:25 pm to twoifbysea
So the 200k isn't a problem but the 65k is? I guess you mean because you need a payment plan and Louisiana won't give you one?

Such bs they can even suspend your dl. I'm sure even after/if/when you pay the bloodsuckers they will charge even more fees to reinstate the license

Yes! The IRS is considering my OIC and will settle (likely). I met with the State and they said tough shite. Pay us the total.

You must have had other tax issues in the past w LA? That's the only reason I can think they will not work with you.

No! They said the law is the law. They will only give me $3200 down and $1100/month for 5 years.

I can't pay that. I have $200 in disposable income per month.
Posted on 5/20/13 at 10:35 pm to twoifbysea
You will have to prove to them that's all the disposable income you have.

I did. No DL unless I can pay $3200 down and $1100/month for 60 months. It's unbelievable.

Well, I'm very surprised the law is to revoke DL. I have no experience with LA though.

Yeah, I was just as surprised.

The best way to get square with the state of Louisiana is to try and buy some tax credits for the tax year(s) you outsanding liabilities. The credits usually cost about $.85 for $1.00 of tax credit. You will have to contact brokers to find credits for the year(s) at issue.
You can use the Louisiana revocation of your drivers license to your advantage. Since you have lost the ability to earn income you should qualify for an offer in compromise with the IRS on the basis of doubt as to the ability to pay the liability. Consult with a CPA experienced in OICs or a tax attorney to learn more about this option. You'd want to file this while your DL is revoked, and before you get square with Louisiana.

Pay your taxes, deadbeat. Every penny you don't pay comes out of the pockets of the rest of us.

How in the holy hell did you manage to pile up that much of a tax bill when you only have $200/month disposable income?
I'm going to guess that you totally didn't pay attention to tax liabilities when times were better. Amirite?
