The cedar plank redfish and 45 day ribeye are two excellent dishes.
My main gripe with Ruffino's: the beer selection is terrible.

It's going to be interesting to observe how this place does. I don't think they will succeed, and not because of the food (I have never eaten at Ruffinos). I think that location/space is going to be challenging for any restaurant. It's big, very big, and I have to think the overhead on that place puts the occupant in a deep hole that any concept/chef/restauranteur would be challenged to overcome.

(Because people that know how to cook won't spend alot of money at a restaurant just because it's a place to see and be seen.)

Just be careful not to speed trying to keep up with Afro's 15 minute observation.

went last night, it was a good meal
The crab cheesecake was probably my favorite and I was pretty disappointed they didn't have the aged steak. I had a ribeye and my little boy had spaghetti. I was amazed at the number of employees working there, every table was sat and they probably still outnumbered the customers 2:1

Are you serious? Zeas and Bonefish aren't the kind of places I would expect to hear this about.

Zeas is next to Red's so it's a popular lunch spot for tennis moms and Bonefish is in RR. It's just about location for some

Reminded me when I went to Texas de brazil the first time. More workers than customers.
How was the look different than Cochon? How's the menu?
Posted on 5/24/13 at 8:42 am to CP3LSU25
A few cosmetic changes but not much, they weren't seating people outside yet and our waitress told me the menu would grow as they got their feet underneath them. They were out of the first two wines I picked but it is their 3rd day open so not a big deal.
ETA: the meal was much better than any I had a cochon fwiw

Those are the two dishes we had last night. The redfish was amazing, i topped it with sauteed shrimp. The steak was medium rare, perfectly cooked.
We also had the crabmeat cheesecake as an appetizer, which i highly recommend everyone to try. It's incredible.
They do need to step their beer game up though.

Sorry about the wine Yellowfin. Some of our Purveyors are from NOLA and have a hard time getting product into Lafayette. Served over 1100 people the last 4 nights and everybody drinks, a lot. Hope to see you soon.

Congrats on the new spot. You are making some family members of mine in Lafayette very happy. Ever since our rehearsal dinner they talk about ruffinos all the time
