Kahr P380. Kahrs have slim big bores as well.
That XD is hideous.

I held both today and I liked the wider grip on the Springfield but the Kimber also felt very good. It has the laser on it, which I'm kinda torn on.
Part of me likes it but I know being proficient with the sights is the most important. I've just never shot a gun with a laser sight and I'm curious.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder my man. I love the look of the XD.

If you have a hankering for a .45, I have a XDs and it shoots great. I put 100 rounds through it this weekend. I think a lot of other posters on here have the XDs as well and I have not read any negative comments about it.
So far this pistol has functioned perfectly for me and it is surprisingly accurate for a 3.3" barrel. It is also easy to conceal and carry.

CC carry usually wider gun is a drawback to carrying

I just love 1911's. What can I say.

if i had to pick one of those it would be the kimber... but now by much. The 3.5" 1911s are nutoriously not very reliable although you have selected a fine example of such. not a huge fan of the XDm/s although a lot of people do like them. Its going to come down to weight and the 1911 will shoot a lot better but will be a lot heavier to carry. I won't be the guy to tell you about the coolest thing ive just bought but i will say imho there are better choices for concealed carry

You talk like you may want to sell it?

Not according to Chad...
But that's the kinda info I need to hear. I remember reading on here that quite a few have the XDs. I like the Kimber too though. I've read enough and heard enough about a Kimber to know it's a top notch gun. Just wondering about the carrying aspects.

Not what I said. CC most are more worried about the feel of carrying not shooting it

How so? Accuracy?

Don't keep me hanging bro. I'm open to suggestions....that's why in the OP I said (pretty much) narrowed it down to those two.

Check out the Sigs too. They get a lot of love on the OB.

When you carry a handgun concealed you are arming yourself for the unknown. If you go and look at what is actually going on with pistol rounds you will learn that there isnt much real difference between a 9mm, .40 cal, and a .45. It gets to the point where you are amring yourself against an unknown situation and anytime you can have more rounds it is a good thing. If you can carry 10+ rounds you are able to stop multiple threats which is why the double stack compact guns are extremely popular. Glock 19, Glock 26, and Smith & Wesson M&P 9c imo are the best at filling this role. You can play ifs and buts all day long but at the end of the day if you are preparing for the unknown you want a gun that is going to give you a larger capacity.

Not selling it...but thanks for asking.
As far as concealed carry goes, it is a gem. I picked it over the Kahr because of the additional safety on the backstrap/grip. The Kahr has a long trigger pull and it was awkward for me since I have fired strikers nearly exclusively all my life.
I have rarely heard anyone feel comfortable with a .45 1911 smaller than a commander as far as reliability goes. Although, there will be 5 posters that will extoll the virtues of a 1911 with a 3-3.5" barrel...It is just not for me.
I am using a De Santos tuckable holster. I have an Uncle Mike's that I really don't like too much, but it is slim (non-Tuck). And I had a Galco that the dog ate. The Galco was slim as well, but not tuckable.

I'm a 1911 guy and I wouldn't buy a 3" 1911

Great info there. It's one of the reasons why I'm leaning towards the XD. 10 or 14 round capacity options because of the double stack. And because of that, the wider grip just feels better. Just curious about the size for concealment. Don't guess I'll know until I can put it in a holster and throw my shirt over it.

While on the subject, any thoughts on the Sig P239 in 357sig? I'm looking into one of these for CC. Preciate any info fellas.
