i am no astros fan, and i'm certainly not a baseball fan, but what the organization is doing is smart

should they spend $60M this year to suck slightly less? what is the point of that? that is not logical

The owner is completely burning the place to the ground with the hope that some fertile seedlings will rise from the ashes.

The question remains whether Crane is an owner who will spend some money to compete in a year or two or whether he makes the Astros into what teams like Kansas City and Pittsburgh have been for some time now...feeder teams that develop then sell off talent.

It would not surprise me if Crane turns out to be a cheap bastard and/or Loria type.

You have to factor in stuff like attendance and merch sales.

Not only are they not spending, but they can't be making much money .

If they team was somewhat competitive, that may be different
