Pretty sure Jarhead took place during Desert Storm.

I haven't seen GK but I've read the book and watched a thousand clips on Youtube. It looks awesome.

I feel like most people associate Iraq/Afghan as the same thing. Restrepo gets in as honorable mention

And I agree, Jarhead was gay. I get the drama part of the movie and what its about but I was expecting more action.

own the movie and the book. The book is basically nothing about action, but about boredom. In my short time in the military, I found it to be extremely monotonous.

I think Netflix streaming still has a solid HD movie I've seen called Hell and Back Again. It has combat sequences in Iraq following a Marine and then shows how he copes with his injuries and regular life back in North Carolina.

Wasn't the director of rest repo killed in the fighting in Libya. Camera folk forget they can get shot at too sometimes I think.

Yes he was. Restrepo was awesome and really set the tone for modern warfare.

This. It actually wouldn't have bothered me if Avatar won Best Picture.

No End in Sight is a documentary that I think a lot of people should watch.

Restrepo obviously.

In the Loop is not a war movie but a really good political satire.

All 3 over 94% on rotten tomatoes that most people haven't seen.

I know it has nothing to do with Iraq, but Act of Valor is a movie definitely worth watching.

Sure the acting is god awul at times, and it was given terrible reviews by movie critics, but a friend of mine that is a former SEAL said that movie is one of the best reenactments of his time as a SEAL.

The main characters aren't actors so you can't really call the movie crap because of that. Hands down one of my favorite movies though

Three Kings is entertaining, but I am not sure that I would call it a "good" movie.

That's a great way to describe Three Kings.

Also, I see The Kingdom listed in the OP...if you haven't seen that one, then watch it immediately. It is the best movie that will be listed in this thread. Really, really great movie. And super intense.

ETA: And I'll reiterate that Hurt Locker was a giant ball of meh.
