bookmarked, we can bump this as the season goes along. Like I said I will be reasonable with what I consider 2 legit strikers. Loic Remyesque or better is the standard.

The standard should be Carroll. He could have y'all near 10th immediately.

Going to use that word from now on as a synonym for "good".
How was my day? It was Remyseque.

Saying you will have to get rid of some players is perfectly logical, given the squad restrictions in the PL. Colochini said he wants to leave and nearly did in the winter. Others will need to leave. I could see the newly rich Monaco making a run at some French players, which will be interesting. Buying French is a good strategy, and there are some players I would take from NU, but the combination of Pardew and Ashley isn't exactly inspiring.

Liverpool won't sell him back to us because it would look bad after what they paid us for him. Would be nice though.

If you know what you're doing. Pardew's transfer strategy (or whoever is really in charge of it) is literally pure lunacy.

Pardew was very good for us until this season and I don't think he suddenly forgot how to manage. A lot of things happened that weren't his fault.
Ashley has gone from too hot to too cold in terms of spending and IMO he is finally getting to the point of just right. At least that's what I'm betting on.

Yes they will. It's almost an entirely different management and back room staff. Rodgers doesn't give a frick about what LFC bought him for, and neither do the owners. The only thing they care about is getting as much for him as they can.
With that said, West Ham want him. Bad. And rightly so.

I think more of those guys are going to start to figure out how to play the english game but i agree to the extent that we went too heavy french. You can play the moneyball game in other countries.

I just remember rodgers flatly saying he wouldn't sell him to newcastle and IIRC even in Being Liverpool there was a brief mention about how they weren't going to sell him back there because of how it would look. Maybe I'm wrong though, I'd love to have him back.

Well, Sissoko and Yanga-Mbiwa were damn fine buys at those prices. Cabaye and Ben Arfa were great moves to begin with as well, and I really like the way Marveaux plays. If you replace Pardew with someone like Laurent Blanc, maybe things would be different.

That has been the one thing. I mean if you're going to stack your team with frenchmen then why wouldn't you just hire one to manage them too? Still might happen it's no lock Pardew is back.

Well I didn't watch Being Liverpool. That shite was terrible.
If you outbid WHU, he is yours.

I thought he was staying at West Ham?

He's a decent manager for a lower-tier side, but he isn't elite. There are other managers who are more tactically astute.

The problem is Newcastle buys just to buy - with no logical thought process behind it. The squad is a tactical disaster. I've watched them several times this year. I can honestly say they have the worst defensive unit I have watched in a long time. No tactical or positional awareness. No clue how to hold a line. Just flat out embarrassing.
I'm not saying the players they bought are bad by any stretch, but volume-buying players just because they are on the clearance rack is a terrible transfer policy.

If you go French, and then ask them to play an English style, what do you expect the result is going to be? The French are miles ahead in terms of technical and tactical education, and the English game, at its essence, is brutish in comparison. I think Rudi Garcia would be a great choice to replace Pardew. I just don't think Ashley has the foresight to bring in a French manager.
