3 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3 T. sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter, cubed
2 tsp. garlic salt
2 c. shredded sharp cheddar
1 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 400. Sift together first 4 ingredients. Cut in butter with a pasty knife until well incorporated. Stir in garlic salt and cheese. Stir in buttermilk until well moistened (may take a little more than a cup). Drop by rounded spoonful onto a greased baking sheet. Bake approximately 17 minutes or until browned.

I like to rub the tops with a little butter as soon as I take them out of the oven.
