So you don't think a ball that rolled through soaking wet grass could maybe have attributed to this?

Bregman simply misplayed a chopper

Again, he was being aggressive trying to turn two. He wanted the double play and charged too hard and caught a short hop instead of sitting back and fielding a big hop. I'm sorry, I don't really consider it "not showing up" when there were plenty of very good defensive plays and a freshman SS got a little too aggressive on one ball, but whatever to each their own.

We looked fine all night long on grounders until that, no, I really dont think it made a huge difference. It COULD have, but it likely didnt. He had time, set his feet, and just mailed it wide. It happens.

Im not saying he wasn't trying to make a big play, but he absolutely misplayed it...it's happened to him a handful of times this year. He's still a former catcher trying to get used to playing SS at the college level. While he's definitely good at what he does, and makes spectacular plays at times, he also accidentally misplays some balls. Unless your name is Austin Nola, it happens to SS's more than any other position, just baseball.
