TV8 news has reported that Coach Shows will step down and long time defensive coordinator, Jerry Arledge, will lead the program at least for this year. Coach Shows will remain as athletic director for now. His health won't allow him to coach.

Let the speculation begin.
LSU man or Alabama man to take the job. Probably one of the most important High School hirings in a LONG while regarding LSU and recruiting.

Decarlos Holmes is a natural to step in here as the new HC.

shite you're right..
ETA - Guy's obviously being sarcastic. I remember a name being thrown out a month ago, and it was a former assistant/player at West Monroe. They said he was a big LSU backer.

"Jerry Arledge, will lead the program at least for this year."
And IMHO, for a lot more. He's been prepping for a long time.

If we had an elite recruiter in N LA, I'd agree. Frank Wilson offsets the issue at St Aug

This is just temporary apparently...

When shows had the heart surgery in the 90s it was arledge who stepped in and led West Monroe in the playoffs!

With the power Shows has in the area, he will essentially handpick his own successor, I bet. No need to speculate. It will be an lsu guy

He is not stepping down he is just not coaching from the sidelines anymore.

Not true. Shows will not coach at all the rest of 2013. Hopefully he gets his health in order. Arledge is Will Blackwell's Grandfather and has been WM's DC for 20 years.

Shows was out 1 week when we played at Lagrange. He coached the Catholic game in the press box and was on the sideline in the Dome.

I hear OPHS is going to raid the WM staff and bring the power back east. You know, just like WM did back 20 years ago.
In all seriousness, Bobby Breen is a shoe in for the job.

Arledge won't be coaching there too long I would guess. Isn't he in his mid 60s?
