I'm going with irreplaceable too!

I don't think he's irreplaceable, he's just more valuable to the Pelicans than they'd get back for him in a trade. The question about Smith is can he be a starter on a bad team. If so he may get paid and move on, but if his price stays around the $5 million mark he'll still be a good value off the bench. One thing going in the Pelicans favor is he owes the upgrade in his career to the opportunity and coaching he got here, and I don't think any other fan base will have as big of a man crush on him. Leveling Blake Griffin happened at just the right time to make him a local hero. Goodell was bending us over and fans found a release in that hit.

Exactly.

Sign this guy here for the rest of his career. He doesn't chirp about playing time, is a great big off the bench. High energy, athletic, plays his role, and is great at the pick 'n pop game. Nice jumper for a C.

You lock him up long term with a declining contract. If we don't splash this year in FA, you front load his contract with all of our cap space.
