Need to get some fishing gear for my brother . Help!

So my little brother just got a job as a fishing guide apprentice and is heading out soon. I wanted to get him something nice as a congratulations gift, however I am the consummate city slicker and don't know where to start. I know the outfitter supplies rods, reels, flies and such, so I was thinking maybe a nice shirt or something. I know of Columbia PFG, but I am sure there are a number of options out there. If ya'll were in my shoes, what would you suggest?
Thanks a bunch!

Let him get there and figure out what he needs. Chances are he will just need some clothes if the outfitter is providing all that other stuff. Go ahead and get him a case of good sunblock though.

What type of fishing will be be doing? If it is offshore stuff, get him these shoes:
Sperry Shock-Absorbing shoes
His back will thank you in 20 years. I have seriously injured my back from riding to hard/fast in some rougher seas. These shoes are specifically designed to absorb the shock and pounding you take while offshore.

Rivers in the Appalachia, mostly fly fishing.

Depends on what you want to spend, but a lightweight goretex jacket or a spare pair of waders. That water is cold as frick, and its very damp at times. Go with Simms, so at least he'll look like he knows what he's doing when he steps out there.
