Star Wars 1313 looks like it had promise. Hopefully EA won't wreck it. Bringing back Battlegrounds would make my day. That was a great game. Still waiting for the day when someone realizes that making another KOTOR is money in the bank as long as EA doesn't come sniffing around it.

The burden is not in buying them, the burden is when you're average gamer is at a huge disadvantage because they can't shell out hundreds of dollars to advance their team/character. And I'd say this is all fine if you aren't getting a competitive advantage (character outfits, etc.). But of course they'll give it a competitive advantage, because more people are likely to reluctantly spend the money for that boost.
The problem really comes into play in multiplayer games where you can pay-to-win. I don't play star wars games and I wont be getting this one, so I dont really care if EA makes it pay-to-win or not. But for the people buying it, that kinda thing just sucks IMO.
