Bar room darwinism.

I was as mouthy and drunk as any 20yo in my day but I wouldn't have, in a million f'ing years, mouthed off to some stud football player. Pick your battles for chrissakes. And if you want to test your mettle and get your arse kicked, go home, nurse your wounds and, hopefully, learn from your mistake.

What does any of that have to do with whether athletes should be punished for throwing their weight around and getting into fistfights with regular joes?

Seems to me it's regular Joe's getting into fights with athletes.

What's the typical punishment for a kid punching another kid at a bar? Statements like "athletes throwing their weight around" turns a kid like Hill into a special class citizen who should be punished according to his size and level of fitness. I would argue that this is as unfair as letting football players off of the hook b/c they're football players.

My point was, you have to be one dumb a-hole to pick a fight with a kid like Hill. But ultimately, I don't think the law should create exceptions because the puncher happened to be a stud football player.
