The difference is, every tennis player has to have great hand-eye coordination.
Not every basketball player is dribbling between the legs and doing all of the normal required stuff. Shaq didn't need great coordination, he could have still been a good player without it.
Joel Anthony has zero coordination whatsoever, he's an NBA player. That can't happen in tennis.

We're on the same page. I was going to add in another paragraph that limited my post to guards and/or perimeter players, but then I just didn't.
