When my brother was in the seals they used glocks anyway. Nobody was going to dictate their weapons to them.

I made that exact point when I pointed out how Force Recon Marines and other elite operators were choosing to use a 1911 and that it wasn't because of some general.

And he's team glock all the way today. Works in the industry and goes to all the big shoots. Glocks are winning those lately btw. That guy they've got shooting for them is a fricking badass. Yes I know... impossible to believe a glock is beating 1911's in competition shooting. HERESY! BURN HIM!!!

I've never actually attacked Glocks, if I recall correctly, I'm only challenging the implied, or asserted, idea that 1911s are basically flintlock pistols compared to newer firearms. I think Glocks are great guns, they're just not for me. I don't enjoy using them, that doesn't mean I think they're a poor pistol.

But you could see where an average shooter in a defense situation would like the reassurance that is provided by additional mag capacity? Note I've said nothing about a particular type of handgun here... we're strictly talking capacity.

Understood.

I used to be the same way. But I got a glock anyway, put a hogue slip on grip on it, started shooting, and adapted. Because more ammo is better than less. There has never been a guy in a gunfight utter the words I WISH I HAD LESS AMMO IN THIS GUN!

Lets get real, part of the original appeal of the 1911 was the fact that it shot more rounds than a revolver.
