I thought for sure he'd succeed right into the majors fairly quickly

I guess having that perfect V shape can only get you so far in baseball.

he was playing really well earlier too

Has he struggled since the long break with the injury? I thought I had heard he was doing great before.

And he can really run...... Just goes to show only 3.2% of them make it to the show. There's been much better players wear the colors, that never got a sniff of the bigs.

Was he a 1st round pick?

Doesn't he struggle with curveballs? I thought that was the knock on him.

Damn he sucks! I wished he'd never contributed to national championships for us in two sports in the same year. How embarrassing.

He was always a "potential" guy and was still pretty raw at LSU. Just a great athlete but struck out quite a bit.

Why would you think that? He was extremely raw at LSU and it's incredibly difficult to even make it to AAA, much less the majors. MLB is the absolute best of the best players in the world. It's the most skilled athletic sport in the world, and is the most difficult to make it in professionally.

Unfortunate setback after such a great spring. I personally didn't think he would get up to AAA as fast as he did, but glad he proved me wrong. Hope this is only temporary and he breaks out of this slump quickly.

It never seemed like Jared Mitchell was fundamentally sound. He was drafted on potential not on baseball skill.

Baseball and football NCs weren't the same year. And I don't know what point you're trying to make.

You can't possibly think baseball has the best athletes. Basketball? They are all giants that run like gazelles, jump out the gym, and most have beyond great coordination
And professional how? Make it to "the show" or just professional? I can easily argue both, you can play rookie ball in Missoula, MT or Ogden, UT and be a pro...thousands and thousands and thousands have done that. I think it's harder to make the NBA than have a cup of tea with the MLB.

I'm sure he's referring to making a major league roster. And a lot if people say baseball is the most difficult sport. Not the most athletic, but most difficult. It takes unbelievable reflexes and coordination to hit a baseball.

I would agree most difficult purely as sport. Hitting a baseball that is curving like Kershaw's or hitting a fastball like Chapman's is something the extreme minority could do.
