Maybe Alfred should just try to not let ignorant shite leave his mouth.
He's usually the best spoken most well rounded player I blame the paper.

Schools/organizations need the media
not in this case.
without lsu shite to fill their sporst section the advocate/tp is hurting.
there is a reason they act like goodboys with the lsu sid. they need lsu more than lsu needs them.
people in br and la will always love and follow lsu. don't know if i can say the same about the advocate or tp.
and tdr is a clown paper for students to throw shite against a wall.
all this blue article is is a bunch of students trying to have somethign to put on their resume.

Both parties are right/wrong IMO. Personally, I wouldn't have run the quote, I would've said something like "Alfred, c'mon think about what you're saying, you sure you want me to publish this?" But then again I'm not in sports journalism, trying to build a resume for future employment, where having a story that's picked up by national outlets is quite a feather in the cap. And this is what all papers do, not just bottom feeding ones like TDR. Jason whitlock, rick Reilly, every one who writes for cbs.com especially doyel, Bayless, Jim Rome, those guys make a shite ton of money for stirring up controversy. It's all about eyeballs, so I'm not gonna blame someone for valuing their own career over something that in the end isn't going to affect LSU football at all.
As for the validity and ignorance of the statement itself, yes the us is a free speech country, but all that means is you can't get arrested for saying stupid shite not that other people can't judge you for it. Blue needs to be more self-aware than he was, and I don' t even think his statement was that ignorant he just articulated himself terribly.

quote:While I completely agree with this I still think Blue should know better than to fall for that bait. I mean every time a reporter asks an athlete their opinion on the subject now they are just hoping they say something controversial
2. There was a clear "gotcha" agenda. Leaving out quotes, celebrating the controversy on twitter, etc...

Also anyone who uses the terms "liberal media" or "liberal agenda" not sarcastically. Should just die. Please.
"DON'T LET THE LIBERAL MEDIA, TELL YOU HOW TO THINK AND FEEEL!! IF YOU'VE GOT HATE IN YOUR HEART LET IT OUT!! IF YOU DON'T LIKE WILL AND GRACE IT DON'T MEAN THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU, MEANS THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH WILL!! He's a homosexual."

Shame on the Reveille
I agree. The quote chosen to be printed in article, and the audio of whole interview, seems to me a reporter with a personal agenda. For whatever reason, he took the worst quote and left out necessary context prior to quote, and a summation that best represents what Alfred thinks..."it wouldn't affect me, as long they are doing their job to help us win..." Very disingenuous of Mike Gegenheimer.

alfred is still pretty much a kid, barely out of his teens. You dont remember saying stupid shite when you was that age? i guess you were perfect. People have to understand these guys and girls who play sports for LSU are criticized for every little thing that they do and dont realize that they are the best of the best and maybe a little different than you and i, so yes i do forgive them for spouting out the first thing that comes to mind. They are trained to react to a situation and without thinking because in their world thats how you make it in life. Reveille should realize who they are letting down because without the football program alot of LSU's other programs aint getting funded. Now you got Yahoo sports demonizing LSU football and comparing a young running back to an old coach at UCLA. You think thats fair?
Posted on 4/20/13 at 4:46 am to vodkacop
What's fair is determined by the Constitution and laws! Alfred Blue is a man in my opinion...a real man! Not a black man, just a MAN! He spoke his mind, damn the consequences! It's high time for MEN to step up and do that more often....and if black men particularly would be totally honest about all subjects, including race, black history, American history, the world-wide slave trade of all peoples, then a cleansing process could be possible. That you Alfred Blue for being a real man!!!!!

You don't understand journalism? Is the Reveille supposed to be a shill for LSU? Is it supposed to be state run media or a propaganda machine like Fox News?
Posted on 4/20/13 at 5:16 am to JohnnyU
No, but it would be alot cooler if they did.
Posted on 4/20/13 at 5:56 am to DollaChoppa
Dont blame them and act like Blue is some kind of victim. If you are mad at anyone, it should be Blue.[/quote]
So exactly when did it not become ok to have an opinion that differs? The "gay acceptance militia" are driving this down people's throats. I like Blue said in his follow up, have no problem with anyone being what they choose to be. It's America. Likewise, I still have the right to not have it shoved down my throat and I still have the right to not only disagree with things other people choose to do, but also to have my own opinion of it. Even if my opinion is that it is wrong and repulsive.
Insensitivity is having an opinion and not accepting anyone else's right to feel differently.
Good for Blue for sharing his opinion. Not enough of those to go around these days.

So this thing has gone 12 pages because Blue said he didn't want a bunch of sissys on the team (referring to gays)?
Or did I miss something else he said?
