but I think the issue here is with personal branding and professionalism
Yep. And this is the type of shite that makes me hate the whole sports world. Every player a corporate robot salesman. Hooray.

Not that it's right for people to be uncomfortable about gay guys on their team, but what did they expect?
Is it really THAT much to ask for, for one of our most prominent players to just say "No comment" and not say something foolish that is sure to stir up controversy?

Who cares? He has a right to state his opinion. Most people agree with what he says. I'm tried of the minority of people pressing this gay stuff on others.

his statement in itself is an oxymoron. It's ok for Blue to have an opinion, but someone else can't have an opinion on his opinion. Interesting
if he was a bama player, this would be reversed.

No, it's not. Blue shouldn't have answered that way. I'm just saying, if you walk into an atmosphere designed for machismo, expect a "macho" answer. I'm sure Blue knows better than to repeat that, though.

Well, of course he has a right ot his opinion. Just like I have the right to call him a dumbass bigot.
Regardless of my or your feelings on his statements, he was foolish to say something like that in this day and age and in his public position. Especially considering the extensive media training they receive.

Well it's not just sports but every field where someone has a position of responsibility and notoriety and they say or partake in something controversial.
Executives lose jobs, athletes lose sponsorships, celebrities and musicians lose endorsements, politicians lose elections, ministers lose congregations and followings, etc. etc. etc.
It's been that way since ancient civilization and way before "liberal media." People have been crucified, executed, mamed, jailed, outcast and exiled since man was intelligent enough to form language.
That's a bit of a tangent but the point is: when you hold a position in the public eye, on some level the public becomes your judge and jury. That's just what it is, and how it will always be.

I totally agree with Blue. You shouldn't make your team uncomfortable. This "politically correct" culture these days is ridiculous. The majority shouldnt suffer for the minority.

Yeah! Shame on those gays for being gay! How selfish of them!

We've become too damn overly sensitive in this country. Words, the young man spoke some words. Anyone hurt?

You are out of your fricking mind if you really think things have always been this way.

I'm not hurt. I could totally understand how this would "hurt" a gay person though. Just because it doesn't hurt you doesn't mean that it can't hurt someone else. Don't speak of what you don't know or understand.

Seriously, if anyone is "hurt" by words, especially from someone they don't know, then that person has issues.

Doesn't hurt.

Please, please elaborate, and after which I'll be happy to provide my argument starting with McCarthyism and taking a tour throughout history.

Then it's settled. You really are out of your fricking mind.

Taking offense at calling a gay man a sissy is like taking offense at calling the sky blue. I'm old, I've known or met hundreds of openly gay men and 100% of the white ones have been just over the top effeminate. The way they talk, walk, run, throw, for God's sake the way they smoke a cigarette - pretending they're not sissies is an utterly absurd lie. Most gay black guys are the same, but I have met two exceptions. Two black guys that you would never guess were gay.
I feel entirely comfortable around gay men, even in a locker room situation. That doesn't make them less effeminate.

Some observations:
1) Thank (insert your higher being here) Blue is black. If this was a white player making this comment...well...you know..
2) Blue is what 19, 20? Yeah. We all said things we shouldn't have at that age.
3) Notice all the other positive things LSU players said were left out. Why?
4) frick Yahoo and frick the CFB media. This is another chance for them to make LSU look bad, so expect the worst. Had one of the players for a darling said this, the other quotes would have made the paper, not the negative ones.
