Growing up one town over in Gueydan, I can say Poboys were never a big part of the family or area culinary scene. They are much more a New Orleans thing in my experience. The poboys you get around there are not on crusty french bread, but softer bread. I think that holds true west of the Atchafalaya. BR is a little bit of a hybrid with availability of Leidenheimer bread, but getting a good poboy here is still near impossible.

Should have gone to Shucks and gotten their fried shrimp. You'd be a happy camper for sure.
