The only thing I don't want to happen is to become really predictable with Jennings in the game, i.e. only do options or option reads when he is on the field.
But hey, if it works, it works.

With a bevy of backs, it would be a good mix. Who was QB though? Zach?

The triple option or just the option?
Those are quite different, and I don't think we've ever run a single triple option play since Les has been here.

First option is to hand to fb. They ran it out of pistol with every qb. Rettig didnt hand it off and cam jumped in and stopped it. It's to get the fb involved, not the qb running it. Well not Mett or rivers.

Not a joke, but I was laughing, well smiling and shaking my head. I could see Jennings running this well but not Mett.
If this Option nonsense is being run at practice, yall well know it's because the head coach requested Cam Cameron to "Make it so Number One." Cam was probably turning his back and at the request, but putting it in to shut Les up.

if you believe this, i will never read another post by you. if you don't believe this and posted it anyway, i will never read another post by you. if, in the future, you have an epipheny and realize how dumb your statement was and publically come clean and aplogize then maybe i will.

Its a very effective goal line offense. I was hoping for that last year.

or is he just messing with us
Are people really this stupid? You think he wasting time in practice doing things to mess with "us"?

Cam basically explained its a good play for 3-4 yards. Will be hard to stop if ran correctly. Either pound it with copeland or slip it out to blue, hill, hilliard or magee.

I remember a triple option that involved a fake to Hilliard at Fullback then a pitch to Ford.
was that really an option play, or that fake FB dive/ flip to the TB we've been running since forever?

It's another way to make your fullback a threat and Cam, more than anyone in the NFL, utilized the fullback to a great degree. As someone mentioned earlier it can also be effective around the goalline.
One of the reasons it's run to the shortside is that the defensive numbers are to the offenses advantage to the short side. It's also easier for most QBs to run it to the right if they are righthanded, although they certainly need to become adept to running it in either direction.
The other thing that the option does is with an athletic quarterback is it forces teams to play zone. If you want to play man against an elusive QB good luck as you'll be running down the field with a receiver when the QB is running up your rear end.
Remember, Cam is putting in a system for the long term, not just this season. Personnel changes.
This is Indiana running the option, of course they had one of the best option QBs in college football history:

Fans are so effing stupid sometimes ... the triple option is based upon deception and can be highly productive. An offense doesn't have to throw the ball 80 times a game to be innovative. The triple option is also risky and fumble-prone. I would agree, it should not be the bread and butter of the offense, particularly w/ Mettenberger at QB. As a change of pace, sprung quickly and unexpectedly on a defense, it could be very productive and produce yards and points.
