Oh you can have an opinion, but we know that the pressure from the media ESPN have led to the firings.
We also know that in todays world, majority of people take their opinion to be factual. Rutgers should have stood tall, and said that the problem had already been addresses. I guess the coach wasn't that good so it was no big deal to them.
Saban has a history of losing his shite on players and while not physically abusing them it borders to a lesser degree of what happened here. And he has a long history of it but he wins so no biggie.

They sat on it...just like they sat on the Te'o story, but they did that in their own interests because they didn't want it to screw up their coverage of the BCS title game
If ESPN has released the Teo story before the game ratings and interest would've skyrocketed.

Nice job ESPN
quote:So because ND doesn't fire their coach and AD, anything short of people dying, no one should be fired, right?
Meanwhile, Brian Kelly and his AD still have a job, even though 2 people died

the coach because ESPN airs a video IS NOT the right call. Firing him for physically abusing student athletes IS the right call
And if the president signed off on the original fine/suspension, like the AD said he did, he may be next to go as well. Though the president denies that ever happpened.

right....because ESPN conveniently sat on this story until the week of the Final Four when CBB interest is at its peak..
give me a fricking break

woooo wooooo woooo ESPN still not satisfied...wants Prez gone too
the faculty at Rutgers wants him gone too.
ESPN isnt at fault for the 3 idiots actions.
making this about ESPN is idiotic anyway.
they all should be gone for the way everything went down.
too friggin bad for them that they thought they were going to get away with that bullshite.

The crazies have won. Tim pernetti actually cared about the athletes at rutgers
He made a huge blunder.

I keep hearing this on the board but where has this been reported?

o rly
obviously you know nothing about journalistic ethics and the way things should be handled
this is 101 on how not to handle news stories. Could be an entire book written about this
John Barr should be fired for his antics. Bitching and moaning during a press conference on national TV is humorous to say the least

Murdick got pissed in November because after he got let go, he wasn't satisfied with just the suspension, so he did what any other pussy would do, and went legal
If you honestly think ESPN just found out about it Monday night then ran a story Tuesday, you should ban yourself right now
Just like ESPN sat on the Auburn weed story and coincidentally released it this week when other allegations appeared

It sure doesn't need to be the headline story on all ESPN shows for a 48 hour cycle. If ESPN is not going to harass Notre Dame University into firing everybody over actions by a coach that led to a death, they really shouldn't be out and front to fire a coach over player's getting their feelings hurt, which in all truth, it wasn't even the players bringing this stuff up in the first place.
To have an ESPN employee say that they would never let their son play for this coach, but in real life have his children play for a coach that sent a kid up on a portable video tower and it led to his death, and also helped to cover-up a rape that led to a girl's suicide. To have an ESPN employee say that he would have no problem with his kids' playing for Bobby Knight, who choked a player, and happens to work for ESPN, but he would never let them play for a coach that threw a ball at player's knees is beyond ridiculous.

I haven't kept up with this story that much but has ESPN had Bob Knight on to get his opinion of Rice's behavior?

This is dumb. If the shite is on the nightly news and CNN, ESPN should arbitrarily move on to random highlights?

That was a huge story.

What Rice did was worse, also Knight didn't suck as a coach so I'm sure that ESPN employee factored that it.

I was changing channels yesterday and passed by Rick Pitino discussing it. I kept the channel flipping, so I don't know exactly what he said about it, but if Rick Pitino said anything negative towards the Rutger's coach it is beyond laughable.
Have an affair on a dirty restaurant floor, then pay for an abortion after the woman becomes pregnant.... not fire-able.
Throw a ball at a few kids knees... fired!
