I don´t recall seeing him stop any shots. Seriously.
He saved five shots on goal over those two legs. Barcelona outshot Bayern in that second leg, the first leg had nothing.
So it wasn't a busy day at the office, but he did have to make stops.
My point was that Valdes gave up seven goals on Bayern's nine shots on goal. Neuer gave up zero on Barca's five.
I mean, yeah, a lot of team play goes into that. But when they went head-to-head, Neuer dominated. Can't see how Valdes is better when you look at their season and head-to-head statistics.

In this instance, I meant more that Neuer comes off the line a lot and cleans stuff up. It allows Bayern to play without the off side trap and not worry about getting beaten behind as much.
He is a very important piece in how they play defense, and not just because of shot-stopping.
I don't know if Arsenals (or very many teams for that matter) can have similar success unless their keep can sweep a bit as well.
Now, actually in goal with a shot coming, he's my top pick in the world, but I don't think its clear cut that I wouldn't listen to 3 or 4 other names and see the argument for them.

you know stats habitually don´t mean shite in football.
Hypothetically of course, how do you think the two would have fared, each being the keeper for the opposing side?

So who's getting transferred Neuer or Valdes?
Posted on 6/14/13 at 3:12 pm to Dandy Lion
I personally think Valdes would have given up at least one goal, but I think Neuer is a better all-around goalkeeper anyway.
Let's face it, no one's going to change their minds on this.

Couple Newcastle notes:
#1 looks like Yohan Cabaye will be moving to Monaco, not sure for how much but I'd expect at least 15 million pounds
#2 Toon look very close to bringing in Darren Bent to bolster the attack that languished so badly after Demba Ba was sold to Chelski last winter.

AS and others reporting we've put in a €30m bid for Higuain. if true, that'll do the trick

Real Madrid has a ´pre contract´ with Isco. Very soon, he should be signing a five year contract.
Yeah, baby.

if you believe twitter and some other outlets Fulham bid 8 million for James McCarthy, but were turned down. Apparently Tottenham are interested but Wigan want 20 million for him. No really, 20 million.

I think I read £24mm which would be good business for Newcastle. Apparently this deal is almost done.

Can't wait for this. Apparently the deal has stalled a bit because Bent is on £65k a week. For £6mm I think he's a steal, but it will be interesting to see how a former Sunderland captain does at Newcastle.

LFC close to a deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. I keep saying I don't think it will happen, but frick that would be an amazing signing.
