I would have never taken the job in the first place. It's a horrible position that is full of ridicule and negativity.
The hole job is to monitor and punish NCAA institutions that have fans all over the country. Anytime you punish them, the fans hate you and spew BS about your punishment.

The biggest thing Emmert did was remove politics from athletics. He told the board to stay out of the hiring process and guys like Cusimano were finally told to shut up and let them do their jobs. That's been a bigger part of the success than anything else he did.
