To be fair, we are listening to them from different perspectives... Ive been a fan from Telephono and listened to them chronologically and after KTM they kinda lost me with all the keyboards... I liked the angular/spastic guitar rock... I still can hear the Spoon I like in the new records I just dont feel them as much...
edit: I'm sure there is a degree of the law of dimishing returns...

It's interesting how differently people view bands based on whether their first stuff was the first stuff they listened to.
Another example is Afghan Whigs. Most old-school Afghan Whigs fans will argue between Gentlemen and Black Love as their best album. I had never heard any of their albums, and so I listened to them all chronologically and thought 1965 was the best and by a comfortable margin.
