Ryzen 5 3600 looks so promising:

Keep in mind that's a $199 chip. It's single core performance easily beats the 2700x (by 10%+), and is only 3-4% slower than 9900k. Also beats the 2700x in each gaming test, only by a little in some, but really impressive for a $199 chip with a base clock of 3.6ghz and boost of 4.2ghz.
