Alright guys, my home desktop looks to be on its last leg, so time for me to get a new one. I am trying my first build since it is easy as hell, and I will be saving thousands by DIY'ing. I am having a hard time choosing between two setups, so if yall can help me decide on one, I'd appreciate it (or maybe suggest others). I need to build it ASAP.

Obviously bang for the buck is one of my primary concerns. Future-proofing is another, because I keep PCs for 5+ years. I typically have multiple webpages open, a word document or two, a pdf or seven, sometimes an HD video running, a spreadsheet with multiple linked pages, etc. Two 21.5" 1080 monitors. Basically, there is a lot of shite going on all of the time. Must have Quadro, and would very much prefer Intel chip. I do zero gaming.

I will also be using this for Solidworks and ANSYS both drawing and different types of simulations on assemblies anywhere from 1-50 parts I guess. This will not be a work PC, so I won't be drawing stuff every day, maybe 5 or 10 days per month.

I got all of this stuff from pcpartpicker to make sure it is compatible. Main differences are bolded. $2k before tax is basically my max budget, but I stretched the first build.

First build ($2100):

Intel Core i7-7820X
Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU cooler
ASUS Prime X299-A ATX LGA2066 mobo
G.Skill Trident Z 2x16GB DDR4-3200
Samsung 960 EVO 250gb M.2-2280 SSD
WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200prm HDD
Quadro P2000
Cooler Master Silencio 652s ATX Mid-tower case
Corsaid 760W 80+ Platinum Power Supply
Samsung CD/DVD writer
Win 10 Pro

Second build ($1550):

Core i7-7700k
Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU cooler
ASUS Prime Z270-A LGA1151 mobo
G.Skill Trident Z 2x16GB DDR4-3200
Samsung 960 EVO 250gb M.2-2280 SSD
WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200prm HDD
Quadro P1000
Cooler Master Silencio 652s ATX Mid-tower case
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750W 80+ Gold Power Supply
Samsung CD/DVD writer
Win 10 Pro

Are those quadro cards that much better at rendering than say a 1080 ti?

I think one of the upper end Ryzen chips (1800x and up) would be a perfect sweet spot for you in terms of price/performance
