I thought those looked cool back then, too. Those acrylic cases were a novelty and relatively expensive. Now they're cheap and don't appear to be good quality. It would be difficult to make them look decent since you can't hide wires. You'd have to ziptie or velcro them in clean parallel lines and sleeve everything.
