but my favorite Beatles song is the one they allowed Clapton to play guitar.
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"?
The same gal that Harrison wrote "Something" about, is the gal Clapton wrote "Wonderful Tonight" and "Layla" about - the woman, try though she may, couldn't break up the friendship.
Harrison brought Clapton in to try to ease tensions in the band.

yes. the entire Layla album is about Pattie Boyd. one of my favorite albums ever. best guitar ever recorded on a studio album imo. but skydog did help that cause. Clapton's book goes into Guitar Gently Weeps a good bit.

"Something" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" are my two favorite Beetles songs.
Guess I'm a George guy.
In "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," Clapton plays the Les Paul called "Lucy" that he had given to Harrison as a gift. Clapton became a stratocaster guy after he saw what Hendrix was doing with it and he said he had another Les, so he thinned the herd and gave it to George.
Gibson did a commemorative re-release of the "Lucy" Les Paul. They are retailing for $15k each at Guitar Center:

I won't be buying one. But if anybody wants to pick one up, I'll be glad to borrow it from ya![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
