SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The E1T1 AAU squad for this spring and summer is centered on the frontcourt. LSU-pledge Ben Simmons might be the best player in the country, and Daniel Giddens and Alex Owens are four-star big men.
Having so much attention on the forwards and post players has helped one player the most, though: scoring guard Antonio Blakeney.
“It helps a lot, because they're going to focus in on Ben, Daniel and Alex,” Blakeney said over the weekend. “I just have to knock the shots down when they come.”
Blakeney, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Oak Ridge (Fla.), put up 18 points in the EYBL opener and averaged 12.0 points on the weekend. He stays in attack mode throughout the game, but is a good decision-maker when it comes to getting to the rim or pulling up and knocking down a jumper.
Once he gets going on the offensive end, Blakeney is difficult to stop.
“My biggest goal is to undefeated,” Blakeney said. “Another goal is to get better and get more offers.”
It seems he's doing just fine in that category, with Louisville, Kansas, North Carolina, Florida, USC, Florida State, Missouri, Providence, LSU and others extending offers thus far. Kentucky also watched him over the weekend at the Nike EYBL Sacramento.
Blakeney has taken unofficial trips to Louisville, Missouri, Florida and Florida State.
Florida has the in-state edge, but Louisville is also considered a frontrunner.
“It was good,” Blakeney said of his visit. “They had a good campus. I got to meet some of the players and got to see how coach Pitino coached.”
Blakeney is ranked No. 23 in the 247Sports Composite

An Article on Brandon Sampson as well LINK. It focuses on St. Johns but there are some other tidbits:
quote:
Sampson said he also lists Arizona, LSU, Texas A&M and Mississippi State among those recruiting him the hardest.
Jones said coaches from Arizona, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M also watched Sampson this weekend.
“They’ve probably been on him the hardest,” Jones said.
Jones also said Sampson would likely take officials to Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and UCLA or USC in addition to St. John’s.
LSU is “10-12 minutes” from his home and has the hometown pull.
“Them being right in Louisiana, they’re always able to check up on me, like three times a week,” he said. “I can go see the campus any time I want.”
Asked if it would be appealing to play there, he said, “I’m thinking about it.”
Still, Sampson said, “I’m still open” and he doesn’t plan on cutting his list until later this summer

I was hoping Simmons could play a role with this kid. Hopefully he wants to play with him in college.
