Seriously. Why the frick do ppl want a ff7 remake. can I get some new shite please for fricks sake.
Yes ff7 was good. materia, chocobos, knights of the round. Sephiroth. Grinding experience. Side missions. Gun arm guy (i forget his name. dont crucify me) But that was what...15 years ago?
Why can't they make a new single player ff with a new story, antagonist, dynamics etc.
this announcement at e3 is hopefully what I want. Sadly I suspect it will be some type of digital dumpster fire.

Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System
Really fixed the Original version.
But yeah they need to move away from these
Reissued game releases
even though ill buy a HD remake of ff 8 lol
Maybe a new Star Ocean?
Buy Some Lower studios and make New games.
Enix used to be one of the best

They were the best when they were just Squaresoft. I'm just hoping they move away from the MMO scene and focus more on jrpgs. They have so many great series they can work on.

There is a reason Enix was the one that bailed out SquareSoft.. just sayin'

Last Remnant looks pretty good for us north American jrpg fans. Thanks for mentioning it. I intend on purchasing the next time I get an RPG itch
seems like ff13 style combat, but with a diff story and minus the annoying frick known as Hope. Amirite?

it's.. an interesting take in turn base combat, I honestly enjoy it when I play it, currently working on buying a house, so my time is spent mostly working with my mortgage broker and realtor the last 3 weeks.. but hopefully I will be playing it again soon.
ETA: But yes, thank goodness, there is no Hope in The Last Remnant.

I'm saying for games that were thrown out there. When it was just squaresoft that's when they made their best games.

Didn't SE do Deus Ex?
They did.

Do their other recent offerings suck?
No. Nearly everything they've released in past several years all has reviewed well and had good community feedback.
Only problem is that very few of them actually sold well. Outside of FFXII-2, they've lost money on just about everything else.

Because Sakaguchi had no idea how to run a business and Squaresoft had an incredible amount of very successful IPs?
People forget that Enix really didn't make anything themselves. Every big game or series they ever published was made externally (Star Ocean, DQ, etc).

allow the player entry to Gran pulse (open world) way before chapter fricking 11
I'll never understand why some people hate linear games so much.

People don't hate linear games but ff13 was just way too linear with really no other stuff to do. It didn't give you the option to make the party how you wanted it until you get to gran pulse
Final fantasy 10 is one of the most successful rpgs ever and it was linear, but it had a story that people loved, better characters, great music, and extra things you can do if you wanted to take a break from the main story.

That goes to Square pulling all of their best developers off of the KH team to work on FFXIII and XIV. Versus XIII would have been released in 2011 or 2012 if not for the management pulling the best people off that team to help speed along 13 (and the delays that came with the 360 port) and to completely remake 14.
Once Versus XIII is done, then work can be done on KH3.

yeah it's crazy, the KH team is the Versus team.. who were pulled completely off the project in order to make xiii-2. Kinda sad

Squaresoft made ridiculously good games, while Enix made a lot of great ones that a lot of people overlook (RoboTrek for the SNES). SquareEnix is a pile of dung.

Most FFs have been linear until the end of the game. Sure you might get an airship or other vehicle, but it's basically only used to travel between two places at first. Even though most of the side quests don't open up until the end of the game, there's usually a few as you play through. F13 had those as well, you just had to complete them before you moved on to the next chapter. FF13 just took away the illusion of being open by removing the big towns to explore and the npcs to talk to.

13 came pretty close to the same success. At least in terms of sales and reviews. 10 actually received its share of hate when it was released (every FF since 7 has). People hated on the voice acting, combat style, characters, etc., but linearity was towards the top. I think 13 gets/got hated on more for its linearity because in the 10 years between 10 and 13 games like Fallout 3, Morrowind, and KotOR were released.

Count me in the group that would pay full price for FF7 remake, if it was redone like you stated. Not sure why you think that is what the majority thinks. Hell, There would be a ton of gamers who have never played it also.
