Just get what you like. You're not going to get a "bad" Gibson or traditional Martin/Taylor.
I like the acoustic devotion of Martin above all, but I don't know anyone who could make a very reasonable argument against Gibson.
As far as all time workhorse guitars go, I'd argue for the D28. But if you like the J-45, better, for example, who could argue?

Martin will always be the cream of the crop for me. Such a warm resonant tone. Perfect acoustic guitar in my mind.
Taylors I have never liked. Tinny, brassy, not for me.
Gibsons are nice, but the hummingbird always sounded too boomy to me. Other models are great, but not as good as Martin imo.
