How good is Alex Gordon?

He has hit 23 and 14 home runs the past two seasons as well... along with 96 doubles and 27 stolen bases within same time span.
What is earliest he should be drafted? Third round? Higher? Later?

Later. 5th round at the earliest... and I doubt I'd take him there. If he ever turns those doubles into homers, then it would be a different story.

Well, it depends on league size and settings, but I wouldn't draft him near the 3rd round. I like him a lot, but he has gone much later in my leagues so far.

He is in the upper tier of your "20/80" players. A nice complementary piece but not a guy you build a team around

I really like him, but I've found out from trying to trade him that no one else thinks of him as anything more than a mediocre player.
15 HR
85+ R
10+ SB
75 RBI
.800+ OPS
...is pretty valuable

I used to be really high on him, but not so much anymore. Not enough power, and not enough SBs to make up for that lack of power.

Exactly

He was suppose to be a perennial 30/100 guy coming out of college. Just never got there for whatever reason.

If he actually stole some bags he would be more than mediocre. After his CS he has 14 total the last two years.
He's one of those better real life players.

A lot of people (mainly blogs/articles I've read) seem to think he breaks out this years and turns more into that 25/100 guy with 15 steals. He is in his peak years as he is only 29 and has improved past couple of seasons

He started out ok his first two years, regressed, had a career year, then regressed again.
Who knows what he does

Makes me wonder if this is his year

Nah, this is Billy Butler's year.
Again.
Again.

I came here to say this.
Martin Prado is another guy that I use to describe this category.
