Stout suggested that I post here.

My ten year old Dell XPS has reached the limit of what I can do to keep it current. In reality, it reached that limit a while back, but I've been sacrificing quality to avoid upgrading.

I am leaning towards building over buying, as I have a new 1 TB hard drive, CD drives, Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse, software, and possibly Video Card I can cannibalize from my current PC that are all less than two years old. But I want a machine that has the ability for me to adapt to changing specs and will last me a while.

My question is, where to start? I've purchased from Newegg before, and I know they run bundle deals. Is it best to try to piece it together, or go with a bundle? Perhaps another site?

Any help is much appreciated.

I build all the time, just built a mini itx xeon E3-1230 workstation, but for work we check delloutlet on the twitter for good deals on refurbs with warranty. Last year I bought 4 desktop workstations for less than 1200.00 bucks.
