What about camp? Oh, that's right. Sims didn't show up to camp. He slept in. He's working hard for that offer.
Sims did go to camp last year, but admittedly have a very bad day. If he shines this year in camp, does he get an offer?
I actually thought Pack's film was >>> than Upchurch's. But Upchurch was the main man for the #1 4A team in Texas. Also, Upchurch appears to be the big physical WR that LSU has lacked since D-Bowe.
Congrats to Coach Mac and Coach Henry for putting in the work in Texas.

A taller, faster version of John Diarse. Like Diarse, Upchurch is a great kid from a top-notch family. Also like Diarse, he has great, great hands catching the football - even in traffic.
I know Dupre has better pure physical skills; and that Noil is electric with the ball in his hands; and that Quinn is the most polished receiver in many years. All three of them have a chance for stardom in college; no doubt. But Upchurch might have a higher upside than any of them. He has a great feel for the game.
At some point, recruitniks need to get off this "I want the instate guys!!!!" mantra. Take the best players - even if they are from Iran.

Problem with instate guys is that if we don't offer and they go somewhere else, then there is this perception that we lost him or a team raided LA for him. It's dumb bc obviously we let him go but it just fuels the fire for people who think the fence is broken.

Sure, but no football staff in the country goes after recruits worrying what the Nervous Nellies are going to think. I know I have never given a shite about "pansy meltdowns" on LSU message boards.
Upchurch is a stud; he is not a placeholder; and he is definitely not a carrot stuck out in front of Noil/Dupre/Quinn to scare them into committing. Jeez Louise...

Upchurch just said in an article that he is 6'1" 221 and that he runs a 4.5 40.

That's what I don't get. Everyone expects him to get an offer after looking like trash at the first camp? Add the fact that the kid KNOWS that he has to go back to LSU and work on an offer and he stays home and sleeps in.
You'd have to wonder if that's part of his attitude and a little something to do with his work ethic as well.

Takes first offer and runs with it. It he pans out, good move by LSU! Surprised no in state colleges have offered him yet. Might be a bad thing.
