Xbox got the RROD. It's time for my 3rd now. The RROD is the old black Elite model. When I purchase the new slim model and transfer the hard drive will it just be plug and play to get online? Will all the Xbox Live account stuff work fine or will I have to set all of that up again?
Just for those who care I am on my 2nd PS3.

You can get a transfer cable from Gamestop for about $20. I know because I had to get one. Xbox Live has cloud storage now so I think you can just save all your stuff there. I've never used it though.

Is it possible to transfer after RROD. Will the cable even work then. Seems like cloud storage if you have an older model is the way to go.
As far as your live membership, you just need to log onto the new system and it should update.

I think you are only allowed 518mbs in the cloud unless you pay for more.

yes. that's what happened to my old one. with the transfer cable, you just connect it to the new slim via USB and the other end connects to the old drive after you remove it from the xbox.

They're plug and play . Just take it out of the old one and plug it into the new one.

The old 360 hard drives are not compatible physically with new slims. Hes gotta get the transfer cable.

Thanks gents. I have gotten a free transfer cable from Xbox when I transferred from the white Xbox HD to the black Elite. I had no issues with it. I was just asking because the slim hardware is a little different. I will use it tomorrow when I get a slim. I will have to wait to try the internet because I cancelled service do to moving.
