I want to say yes but I'm not 100% confident.

Team could use more games and I think an NIT home game would do a lot for upping the fanbase's excitement going into next season

One more game would help.

Another scenario is to hope that the bubble teams in our conference get in the tournament.

Well, we at least knocked UGA out of contention.

The SEC needs to get at least 4 in the NCAAT: Florida, Mizzou, UK and either OM/Alabama/Tennessee.

Think we still have to sweat through some conferenc tourneys. Illinois beating Minnesota in the Big Ten tourney was a good win for us. Same with UT beating Moo St.

I hope. When we make it to the garden should be more people than it was last time we were in northeast

Clinch? No.

But I think it put LSU back on the bubble for the NIT. Prior to today, we were out of it.

I feel the same, holding on to that half time lead would have made me about 99% confident.

A big problem is that seven low major regular season conference champs have lost in their respective conference tournaments. All of those teams are guaranteed NIT invites.

I don't think we clinched. Depends on how the NCAA shapes out. I think we'll make it, but I wouldn't quite say clinched yet.

We'll take care of that after we knock off Florida.

This has us out (before todays game though)

Amazing... in 1986.. LSU had a 19-10 record and was the 11th seed in the NCAA tourney. (Some rumored the last at large team). We went on the beat Purdue in double OT, Memphis, Gat Tech and UK to advance to the final 4. I was a student there at the time. It was awesome.. The first two games were in the PMAC. The NCAA doesn't allow that anymore.

I remember Dale Brown running off the court after we beat #2 Memphis on a last second shot. Good times!

LSU likely won't get into the NIT without a win against Florida. They could play with most NIT caliber teams though.

I think we still need a little help but I think we are close. If the SEC is a four team league in the NCAA then we would be the third likely SEC for the NIT. I think it was really big for UGA and ARK to lose today. We will see, keep it close tomorrow!

What would be the chances LSU plays in the College Basketball Invitational if they miss the NIT? Just curious cause I've never new it existed and its been around since 2008.
