But the story wasn't explicit. FWIW I never thought about him hooking up with his roommate. I never picked up on the "vibe" you're referring to.

Now that you have heard about it, go back and watch the scene again and see if you get the "vibe".

I was thinking it the whole time, but I keep convincing myself that Frank can't be gay. It throws his character into an odd dynamic that I'm not sure if I like.

i thought the whole scene was about them fricking each other on one drunken night in college? wasn't that obvious that they used to bang the way they talked to each other?

I got tired of it midway through the season. The characters make me want to shower.

vibe?

his friend said, "WE MESSED AROUND A LITTLE BIT"

It wasn't implied. It was stated...as fact. that they fooled around

Yeah, and it definitely took me out of the character. Someone said it fits because Frank is animalistic and he is driven by animalistic desire, but I disagree. It felt really fricking awkward. Nothing about his character before that suggested anything like that behavior and nothing afterward did either.

It kind of just felt like they were setting up another potential fall point for Frank. Frank pulls all these strings, fricks with all these people, but he's got so many damn skeletons in his closet that anyone (e.g. Ms. Barnes) could take his arse down with a semi-well researched piece.

I think it was mainly to show that he, and all politicians for that matter, engage in things that the public would be so shocked to know

It provided some depth.

But I will admit, I felt it a bit weird/unnecessary to the story

Hard to believe he kills a guy, sleeps with the hot reporter, might be gay, etc all in season one.

A little far fetched for any one politician.
