Say hello to the rebirth of the single wing.

USA Today

Here's the offense in action at the high school level. You don't see this crap in college anymore:

I'd rather run a few of those and replace a few I formations, FB dives up the middle on 3rd and 4, and Spencer Ware wildcat plays.

I wanted to watch that video, but I heard that song and immediately quit.

I remember Boise State running a triple option out of a wing formation before they became good enough to line up on offense in a pro set. I think Oregon ran a lot of triple option out of the wing about ten years ago too.

I'd say the problem will be recruits, but it's not like Duke was getting great recruits anyway.

That first video was hard to watch. Wow.

In reference to the players not wanting to go to Duke. Top recruits never want to go there now anyway. With this system they could potentially get a stud athlete to run QB like a Russell.Shepard type guy. And you don't have to have huge OL with this system, there will be plenty of guys to choose from.

I guess it allows them to diversify themselves in recruiting. Duke isn't exactly in play for top end talent on a yearly basis. By going after specific types of players to fill needs in this offense, it may be a positive.

Now, as far as translation to wins on the field.. that's a different story.

For teams that can't bring in talent this is a great choice. I wouldn't be surprised to see more teams revert back to option type offenses. Defesnses never get to see them anymore with all the spread offenses.

That video you posted sucks here is a real video of the single wing as run in college.
