3x a week max, don't do it two days in a row. Make sure he stretches a lot before and after. Don't ever use weighted balls to strengthen his arm, wreaks havoc on the shoulder and elbow.

I agree with 3x's also. Warm him up good for a half hour beforehand.

My son is 6 and we long-toss only twice a week. If he had his way, we'd do it everyday. But we warm up with grounders for 15 minutes or so, then go to the driveway and work grounders for another 15 minutes or so then I slowly start stepping back until I reach his max. When I find it, I step back in a few steps and give him about 20 throws and that's it.

But I'm no coach by any stretch of the imagination so take it for what it's worth...lol. I've only talked to a few guys who's opinion I trust on the matter.
