Anyone ever checked out Intronaut? Came across their album "The Direction of Last Things" on a lot of Best Of list on Metal Sucks. Sound is Progessive/Post-Metal and Devin Townsend mixed the album.

I don't know if they fit this topic perfectly, but they do have a bit of psychedelia and prog to them.
Royal Thunder from Atlanta was the band that opened up for the Sword a couple weeks ago. They really kicked arse live. The singer is this woman with one really distinctive and powerful voice. Both their albums are packed with some really great hard rock songs.
I'd post some links but that's a bitch from this shitty connection. But just about anything they is pretty good. The first album is a little harder than the second but on successive listenings the second and most recent one is much deeper.

I had checked them out on Spotify before... more and more front women in metal genres.

LINK
They do a break down of sub genres within Doom Metal... cool stuff
Also, Biblical!!

Biblical’s Nick Sewell recently crashed BangerTV’s weekly Lock Horns live stream to talk about Doom Metal. Joining host Sam Dunn and special guest John Semley, Nick took a rather controversial position. Check it out!

I was searching for some news on them... led me to that video... which I am almost done watching.
But Biblical is working on a new LP and was said to have about 8 songs they are on various stages on. I want them to come to NOLA

shot them yes.
I consider them blues rock/psychedelic
Didn't really want to make another thread for it. But I appreciate it.

As we get deeper into the thread it is hard to remember every band talked about.
I am familiar with them... this video reminds me a lot like the Red Fang vid for Prehistoric Dogs. Anyone else?
thanks for posting!

Purple, the new album by Baroness is really good. I first played it New Years eve but couldn't get into it. Sat down a few days later to give it another chance and since then I've pretty much listened to it exclusively.
The track Kerosene blows me away.

Purple has slowly grown on me as well.
"Chlorine and Wine" might be one of the best compositions they've done. Love the movements contained within it. And when you're familiar with what happened to them on tour and what he's singing about... chills.

Played it thru a few times now. enjoy it
I have been on this Yob and Pallbearer lately. Was discovered on that video I posted last week with the metal doom band rankings and such.

Yup! Both YOB and Pallbearer albums were in my top albums of 2014 from ALL genres.
I may get to see Pallbearer in March.

I listened to some of that new Baroness a few weeks ago. It sounds like a watered down version of old Mastodon. Some of those riffs are just straight rip offs. Not a fan of the vocals either. I've never been able to get into this band.

Have you listened to the Blue Record?
They've definitely moved into the Mastodon crossover with a more psychedelic rock feel to them and a lot softer sound on the last two albums. But damn... the Blue Record is straight up badass sludge.

Personally im still trying to figure out Mastodon and their sound change.
Where did things go wrong from Crack The Skye? Seems like they out thinking the room. They fell from grace fast for me with their last two releases
