Based on what?????? Equipment??? The courses wre close to the same........ YES Todays players are stronger and are in better shape and the equipment is amazing compared to the 60's and 70's. But Golf is 90% Mental and 10% physical... This has NEVER CHANGED........

Is it easier to have to outlast 10-20 guys capable of winning a major over 4 rounds, or 60-70?
