Sorry but this movie didn't tickle my fancy. Although seeing the previews to Iron Man 3 and the Great Gatsby did.

Gatsby didn't look appealing IMO

I have no desire to see another Ironman.

It's the same thing over and over.

Lot of good references to the original.

The dead munchkin in the background was a little much though.

I haven't seen any of the Iron Man movies but this one looks good.

Leo is a phenomenal actor which is why I have an interest in seeing The Great Gatsby, that and when I was in grade school we had to read the book.

Mrs. Midnight and I just got back from seeing it.

It was enjoyable - primarily because I had few expectations.

Clearly there will be a sequel. The witches were all good and Franco was better than I expected.

I am really taking a dislike to movies shot in 3D, even if I don't watch them in 3D (which I don't unless it is a theme park ride). I know they have to have the obligatory 3D shots to show off the capabilities.

On another technical note, the CGI/Green screen "dehumanization" of the film was much less pronounced than from other directors *cough* Lucas *cough* Bay *cough*, though it threatened at times (i.e. the original balloon entry to Oz).

I'm not a huge fan of Raimi, but I give him a solid B+ with this effort.

I was wondering where the references to the ruby slippers were and apparently the original studio still has that trademark.

They even have the trademark to the exact hue of green of the witch so Disney had to slightly alter it.

Predictions for the sequel.

A house falls and kills Evanora, Theodora dies by water and someone pulls the curtain back on the Wizard.

Great visuals

Good overall story

Shitty dialogue

Everyone is miscast. Williams, Weis, and especially kunis are really really bad in this movie

I don't know why they cast the midget from bad Santa

Disney seemed overly eager to show us there are indeed black people in oz. at one point a black munchkin pops onto the screen to say one word. I like having black people in oz, I did not like Disney ringing a bell and shouting "we have black people!"

Watching this, they should have cast zach Braff as the wizard, Franco fricking blew, and Braff was the only actor who didnt turn in a complete dud of a performance

Raimi did nail the look of oz, it looked great. I will refrain from talking about any spoilers, but there is alot to discuss with this movie.

Disney owns all of it, they even had the ruby slippers in "return to oz."

My girlfriend has somehow never seen the Wizard of Oz; I advised her to watch it before seeing this one. Is that necessary?

Not really. This story doesn't have anything (that I can recall) that needs further explanation to push the story along. If anything, this movie will help her explain the Original; however, I would advise her to watch the Wizard of Oz first. It's just the route everyone has taken; therefore, it is the route she should take.

As for a movie. I really enjoyed it. I thought there was a lot of cleverness to it. It did seem predictable at times, but of course it was something we, who have seen the original, would expect.

I saw this movie last night and overall I liked it. The production quality is really good and it felt like Oz to me. It was good to be there again.

My problem with this movie is that I found it to be very poorly acted.

The dialogue pacing always seemed to be a hair off, and the only actors who looked natural in their role were the Tinker guy and maybe Rachel Weiz. Zachary Braff, too.

James Franco I believe was just a flat miscast. I could probably name 50 actors who could pull this off better than Franco.

Kunis' character just wasn't believable. Needed more development and screen time leading to witching out.

When I see a movie with good actors that doesn't convey well, I blame the script and the director. Actors need to be told to tighten up a scene or that their grandiose speech is falling flat.

Good movie, but could have been much better.

I agree. Kunis wasn't great as the wicked witch. Weiz would have been better and I was surprised when the twist came that Kunis was the WWoftheW and not Weiz.

they had to pay a large fee to mgm to use them. they did not actually own them during the making of that film.

i'm pretty sure warner has the rights to the slippers.

They really tried, but Kunis was STILL hot. Rachel Weisz, on the other hand, was uglied up quite a bit at the end.

Here’s my take on it. I took my 6 year old to go see it and she was on the edge of her seat the entire last hour. She happily clapped her hands at the end and I’ve never seen her do that, either.

Really, that’s all I was hoping for. Kind of like Wreck it Ralph. That was nothing great, but I thought it was pretty good and entertaining for a kids movie.

As for an adult going in not expecting much more than a bunch of eye candy, I was amused. It does not have the tremendous screen play the Wizard of Oz sported, but with the technology today, the visuals are just as good and probably even better. I found myself thinking about half way in that this is a very good escape from reality movie and it almost has that dream feel to it as well.

Holes in it? Sure, everywhere, but hey, who cares the hot Russian witch could have just killed the wizard when she landed in the village near the start looking and acting like our wives do after a year or so into a marriage.

Does it have a classic ending. No, not really, but it does have a lot of action and it has a pretty good story line.

Great? No, not by any means, but I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 and recommend it for sure. See it in 3D. Three thumbs up.
