With the group of backs Bama just brought in with this draft class and still having Yeldon and Foster there I think that plays a lot into his decision. After this season we lose Blue and if Hill goes too then Fournette comes here and starts from day one IMO. That wouldnt be the case at Bama. Too much competition.
Why would someone as good as LF five 2 shits about competition? If he is the best he will play. Period.
And he probably will be.

There is only 1 ball to go around and best is a relative term. Guys like Yeldon and Henry are also great, so it is doubtful he would just beat them out and get the majority of the carries from day 1. Where as at LSU he would at worst likely be #2 on the depth chart from day 1 and even if Hill and Hilliard return in 2014 (I think odds are better both are gone) Fournette is probably better than both.

Competition still matters.
When LF arrives on campus, will he know the playbook as well as the upperclassmen? Will he have the experience in recognizing SEC blitz packages? What if your QB gets knocked out because the freshman RB didn't block the right guy?
It's not enough for LF to just be the best runner. If he wants to start as a freshman, he probably needs to be a considerably better runner. What if he gets a minor, nagging injury that keeps him at 95% for a while, like an ankle sprain that limits his cutting ability? Is he still better?
If LF wants to start from Day 1, there are plenty of reasons for him to choose the less crowded backfield of LSU.
