I love the notion that because a stoner is in it, the movie is a stoner movie. This isn't Half Baked. The central premise of the movie isn't centered around the Dude's pot habit. The fact that he smokes a lot influences his character and his interactions with people, but why don't we think of it as an alcoholic movie? The Dude drinks just as many or more White Russians than he smokes joints. Just baffles me the way people label The Big Lebowski as a stoner movie because it is offbeat and has a stoner as the main character. Notice how he is the ONLY one who smokes (with the exception, I think, once when Maude smokes with him)? I just don't understand this rationale.

not going to link the dream because of brief nudity, but that scene seems totally unlike a stoner movie, right?
It's not as in your face as Half Baked or Harold and Kumar, but just google "top stoner movies" and you'll see many of your kind agree it goes great with a bowl.

I see your point. Whatever, its a slacker movie. It is seen as a stoner movie because the main character is your typical pot smoking cool slacker and he smokes multiple times on screen. Comedies with multiple on screen pot smoking scenes are often seen as stoner movies. Believe me, stoners relate to "The Dude" and his lifestyle and enjoy watching a movie centered around a pothead, white russian drinking slacker.
