Context. He is tracking the flight of the ball. He should have looked to see if someone was coming, but it wasn't like the Real player was standing still and Nani kicked him. Both players were going for the ball.

it was still quite reckless
if the real player had been standing and he kicked him, it would be an auto red with no debate. that's not a fair comparison
