Like others have said, the biggest you can handle. With me it's a matter of browning all my meat in one batch.

One thing you have to be careful with when using a bigger one is the amount of gravy. Being it's more spread out, it'll fool you. Putting enough water to raise the level of the gravy that you're used to seeing in any "normal-sized" pot can fool you.

For a camp I prefer a cast iron over a magnalite all day. The option of cooking over a fire (which for me would be my most common method anyway) is a big plus. It'll make a Magnalite pot black. Not that it matters for a camp pot, necessarily, but I only use my Mag's over a gas burner/stove or glasstop.

My favorite is a 3 gallon round bottom pot I have. It has a flat surface on the bottom but the inside is round. I can put it on any burner or stove and cook. Light enough to carry around very easily.

My wife bought it for me and I thought I would never use it. But it gets used often. I can even put it in the oven. Didn't pay but $50 for it I think.
