Stranded in the lake right now, my 2002 225 mercury efi wont crank. Starter will spin when I turn key but it's not kicking the bendix out to the fly wheel. Just 2 hours ago it crunk up fine at the landing. Trolling back there now just looking for suggestions.

Screwdriver under it and pop it up when you crank it.

Tap, not very hard, on the starter with a screwdriver or wrench and try again.

Either starter or not enough juice. Use tm battery or jump it

Dying/dead battery. This happened to me recently at the launch. Frsh battery helped the bendix move up and co tact the flywheel.

I live in the BR area and have been stranded on LAKE MAUREPAS at night. Ain't no fun.
Tell ya what,I'll start a contacts thread in a little bit with a listing of email addresses for phone contact numbers for posters that could come out and help someone out just in case of an emergency. Some places sea tow won't go,believe me ,I understand.

Another trick that works is to tilt the motor out of the water, so the exhaust can freely come out of the prop. Which will spend the motor faster.

This is typically a motor problem, and not a boat problem.

mercury efi

Another problem is most likely the fact it is a merc.

How much compression you have?

If you see other boats get some help. Try to wave someone down
