The Natural
Bull Durham
Miracle
I liked The Running Man when I was in Junior High... Does that count?
Not many good soccer movies out there.

Bend It Like Beckham
Keira Knightly looks great in it also.

Breaking Away
That's one of those movies that is nothing (or vitually so) about the sport - and everything about the human condition as told through the medium of the sport.

That's fair - I don't really think of either as a "sports" movie, per se.

Still love it - there's no coming of age rule or OP parameters that the movie has to be just about the sport. The Sandlot isn't about baseball. A lot of movies just have a sport in it as a backdrop to frame the story.
Has a lot cycling and a race at the end. It qualifies in my book...

I was complimenting the moviemakers in using a tool seamlessly. I think that's harder. Obviously, Remember the Titans is first, and foremost a football movie. The fact that it does a lot more than that during the running time is one of the things that makes it a good movie.
Breaking Away, Rudy, and to a certain point the original Rocky movie were able to make the sport itself, secondary to the journey of the main character.

Well I wholeheartedly agree about Rocky (original only.)
I've always hated when people talk about it as a "boxing movie."
It's a love story.

Victory is the only one, and I liked the idea better than the execution. It has its moments, though.

Pretty sure in reality the players were executed after beating the Nazis.
